Sermons.app Alternative: Help After Sunday, Not Before It
If you searched for a sermon app, or for a Sermons.app alternative, it helps to name the job you actually need done. A lot of church AI tools use the word "sermon," and they are not interchangeable.
Sermons.app is an AI sermon coach for pastors who are still preparing a message. It talks the sermon through with you, helps you find the big idea, and gives feedback on a draft. It says it will not write the sermon for you, and that the words stay yours.
That is a real need. It is not the same need as Monday morning, when the sermon has already been preached and someone still has to turn it into a newsletter, discussion questions, posts and clips.
Amenflow is an alternative for that second job. It starts only from a sermon you have already preached or written, and it drafts a week of content from what was actually said. It never writes sermons.
What Sermons.app is built to do
Sermons.app describes three ways to prepare: talk the message through (including a voice note), write in its editor with inline coaching, and bring a finished draft for review on clarity, structure, application and faithfulness to the text. It keeps a voice profile so feedback is meant to sound like a sharper version of you, and it stores searchable sermon memory so illustrations and series threads are not lost.
On its pricing page, checked November 7, 2026, the Pastor plan is $19 a month, or $190 a year. That plan lists unlimited sermon uploads, unlimited coaching sessions, sermon review, a personal voice profile and searchable sermon memory. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. A card is required, and you can cancel before the trial ends. Pastor Pro is listed at $39 a month and Church at $99 a month; check their page for what is available now and what is still coming.
If Saturday night is heavy because the message is not clear yet, that is the problem Sermons.app is aimed at.
When you need a different kind of sermon app
Many pastors who type "sermon app" into Google are not stuck on the outline. They are stuck after the benediction.
The recording exists. The people who missed Sunday never hear it. Small group leaders need questions. The newsletter is blank. Nobody has time to cut a clip. That work is sermon repurposing, not sermon coaching.
For that job, look at tools that start from the finished message:
- Amenflow drafts a newsletter, social captions, captioned clips, a small group guide, a 5-day devotional, a kids' lesson and Spanish versions from the sermon you upload, paste as a podcast episode or add as a manuscript. Everything is a draft for your review. Plans are $38, $58 or $128 a month (6, 12 or 30 sermons), and the first 3 sermons are free with no credit card.
- Pulpit AI is the best-known tool in the same category. It offers a large set of written pieces plus unlimited captioned clips, a sermon-prep assistant and a Subsplash connection. Its pricing page lists $39, $59 and $129 a month. See our Pulpit AI alternatives roundup and the Amenflow vs Pulpit AI comparison.
Sermons.app sits on the other side of Sunday. Its own site is about discovering, writing and sharpening the message before you preach. If you came here because you wanted help sharing a sermon that already exists, switching to a prep coach will not produce those Monday pieces.
Can one tool do both?
Some products try to cover preparation and follow-up. Pulpit AI includes a sermon assistant for openers, transitions and application as well as post-Sunday content. Amenflow does not. We do not help write sermons, on purpose. The preaching stays yours; we only help the finished message travel through the rest of the week.
Sermons.app has described written follow-up pieces generated from your preparation notes, without video clips. That can be useful if you already did your prep in their app. It is not a substitute for a tool that reads the recording you actually preached, checks quotes against it, and cuts captioned clips.
If you want both a prep coach and a repurposing tool, you may end up with two subscriptions. That is not a failure of either product. They solve different problems. We walk through that side by side in Pulpit AI vs Sermons.app.
If you want to stay with Sermons.app
You may not need an alternative at all. Keep Sermons.app if:
- Your hardest hour is before you preach, not after.
- You want a coach that asks questions instead of a tool that drafts a sermon.
- You care more about protecting your voice in preparation than about producing clips and a newsletter on Monday.
That is a fair choice. Amenflow is not trying to replace that kind of help.
If you want Amenflow instead
Choose Amenflow if the sermon is already preached and you need the week of content that should follow it. It is built for small churches where the pastor or one or two volunteers handle communications. You review every draft. Nothing goes out on its own. Recordings stay visible only to your account and are not used to train AI models.
